Don’t avoid change, embrace the shift.
As I think about my 2020 vision, I can’t help but to include the end goal, the result of my actions. But if I stop there, I know I will miss out on the opportunity raise the bar and grow, but growth can be uncomfortable, because it’s all about change. Let’s be honest, it can be scary.
When building my vision board each year, I include clearly defined achievement type goals but even more important is taking stock of my mental state. Just like going to the gym and working out to build a body we love, we need to focus our attention on how we process our emotions because our mindset matters. It’s everything.
Designing a strong mental state starts with embracing all that you are. Every single part of you. The cellulite, the roots growing through your over-processed hair, the big, snorty laugh, saying awkward things, showing up underdressed, missing an appointment, or chronically being late. All of you. Don’t deny a single part of you. Don’t wish for straight hair when you have curly. Don’t wish to be wealthy when you’re broke. Love yourself, all of the mistakes, wrong turns, and pathways that’s created the sum of your life. Accept YOU and your unfiltered, messy life. Embrace it. This doesn’t mean that you don’t want to make changes but we first have to love and forgive ourselves, accept responsibility and accountability for our life before we can bust out some accomplishments. Otherwise, we’ll achieve those goals, and we’ll still feel empty. Bottom line: love yourself ♥️
Distractions: it’s easy to avoid pain and cover up our fears with distractions so we don’t have to deal with ourselves. It comes in all forms. Shopping, over-eating, binge drinking, smoking, drugs, or getting lost for hours on Netflix. The best gift we can give to ourselves is to stay with the uncomfortable feelings and work through them one by one.
Self worth: Our self worth will never come from the material world. There won’t be a big enough house or more money that will ever satisfy your craving to fill that inner void. If you want a rock solid mental state, stop looking for things in your external world that provides a band aid for emotional issues and start within. You deserve more.
Gratitude: Find gratitude 🙏 in journey that you’re on and trade your expectations of others for appreciation and life changes instantly. Be thankful for every person, missed opportunity, and failed attempt.
Freedom: Don’t build walls. Don’t push people away for fear of getting hurt or being vulnerable. Trust yourself. Believe in yourself. Be authentic. Dive into a passionate life-head first. Don’t allow the world to harden you. Believe that there’s good in the world because there is. You’re not being naive, you’re choosing to live free. Otherwise, you’ll imprison your mind and your soul.
Raise your vibration: Fuel your mind. Feed it positive words. Educate yourself. Learn something new and commit to never stop growing. Surround yourself with those that share same mindset and drown out the noise, the jealousy, the hate, anger, and resentments. Don’t be that woman or man that sees all that the world isn’t but rather see the world 🌎 and people just as it is…perfectly imperfect.
If you’re living a truly authentic life then you’ll be free from the thoughts of those who don’t matter, the fear of not being enough, and your inner critic that constantly compares as a measure of your success.
If you could build the BEST version of you, what would you be doing? How would you show up for yourself? How would you show up for others? How would you contribute to this precious world?
Design a life that YOU love because you’re made for more! Don’t ever stop believing the impossible.
Here’s to making 2020 the best year ever by committing to being the very best version of you and by starting with knowing we’re enough just as we are. 🙏♥️
PS. My word of the year is Align. What’s yours?
